Default Intel ME (Management Engine Components). Is it important?

In a home PC, is there any reason to install Intel ME? It seems to be very resource intensive with lots of processes and background services.
From the little I have read about it, it mainly seems to be useful for administrators to configure PCs over a network, which doesn't apply in my case.

Today many system/hardware tools (like O.C. tools) uses the Intel ME interface too. It's not just for configuration PCs over the network anymore. But you can avoid installing all the (unnecessary in a home environment) programs and services from the ME setup.exe and install just the driver. Open a CMD prompt, type

    path_to_ME\setup.exe -drvonly

    and press ENTER. Replace "path_to_ME"
with your actual path to the ME setup.exe</path></path>
Mind is not cumulative, but stupidity is.
