Well, the 5_6 and 7_8 headers are Intel, not ASMedia. ASMedia chipset is the rear I/O ports 3.0/3.1 only.

Have you shone a light into these two MB 5_6 and 7_8_ ports looking for bent pins?

What, if anything, is plugged into them?

You did install the INF Driver, right?

Have you attempted an out of the case minimal build for troubleshooting?
#1 - Please, when seeking help, enter the make and model of ALL parts that your system is comprised of in your Signature, or at least the model #'s in your System Specs, then "Save' it.
____If you are overclocking, underclocking, or undervolting any parts, informing us of this and their values would prove beneficial in helping you.

#3 - Please use the eXtreme Outer Vision Power Supply Calculator found HERE to determine if it might be your PSU at issue.
____Consider your PSU to be the foundation from which all else is built upon. Anything built upon a weak foundation is poorly built.

I did all the things you suggested, headers still don't work. I solved the problem by buying a PCI Express 2.0 expansion card with 2 headers on it. They installed fine and work great. So let's abandon the problem of MB headers, I'm assuming that the board is bad and I accept it. Let's get back on the original subject: System locks up during certain installs on Asrock Z170 Extreme7+ and Windows 10 64. Thanks for your help on MB headers.
