Cool Re: Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z - New Build - Suggestions

Well, I still can't quite put my finger on what the issue was. But, I re-seated every connection, removed the CMOS battery again to clear everything, replaced the battery with a new one the next day, installed the Swiftech liquid kit and did an overnight leak test, rechecked all cables and connections, configured the BIOS to optimized defaults then changed to X.M.P. Profile for 1600 RAM and adjusted RAID settings. At this point everything seems solid. I ran Prime95 for about an hour just to see what difference the liquid made. wOw! It went from about 45-46C at idle down to about 27C. During the Prime run (mixed) temps didn't break 56 under 100% load.

So, now that this thing seems to be ready, would anyone be willing to help or point me toward a base/template for a setup similar to this?
From what I've read, it's not cool to use AI Suite for a serious or stable OC and all should be done at the BIOS level. Is this correct or will the Auto Tuning work well?
Also, is it possible to achieve a 5Ghz or higher stable OC with this hardware configuration?
If anyone would like to help try, I'd appreciate any and all advice!

Thanks in advance for your time.

Alright...it appears as though I'm at 4.8Ghz stable with RAM running at 1600Mhz.
I tried 5.0, but got BSOD every time with CPU voltage at 1.415 or 1.425...?
I ran Aida64 System Stability Test overnight with peak temp at 67 and no errors at 4.8.
    Is Aida64 a decent suite for Stability/Burn In/Benchmarks?
I have Prime also if there's a major difference.

Also, can anyone suggest a good fan control solution? Preferably software as I have no open bays remaining.
I installed Speedfan, but to be honest, couldn;t make much sense out of that GUI.
I removed AI Suite entirely from the system, because the Fan Controls seemed incomplete.
It only detects CPU and Chassis Fan...no OPT fans (which is where I have the radiator fans attached)

If anyone would like to chime in with any suggestions on how to push this thing to 5.0Ghz (if possible) that'd be awesome.
    Thanks!

PS...Is lsdmeasap still around? He was instrumental in helping me with my first build and quite a pleasure to talk to.

don't know if you still got your boot problem, but it might be due to usb sticks/drives plugged in - have had that problem myself on my current ROG Crosshair V Formula. Sometimes the bios pushes the usb device in front in boot option on its own and thereby creating errors. So I've started unplugging usb storage when they aint needed.
My advice - never visit a short-url, no matter who gives it to you. You can't trust any source at any time when you don't know your target
    Whitey: ROG Crosshair V Formula/Thunderbolt, AMD 1090T @ 3.2GHz w. NZXT Havic 140, Corsair XMS3 1333 8GB kit, HIS IceQ X HD 6870, Corsair Force GT 120GB, OCZ Vertex4 256GB, Kingston SSDNow 16GB, Samsung 500GB 3" in casedock when needed, Chieftec Nitro88+ 650W, NZXT H2 White, 3x Asus VS248 24"
Snuggles: Zotac Zbox HD-ID40 (Atom d525, worst purchase ever on cpu), Patriot Pyro 60GB (Thanks to Tweaktown Giveaway), 4GB 800' DDR2 SO-DIMM
    Bcube (NAS): ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe, AMD A6-3500 @ 2.1GHz, LSI 9240-8i (M1015) controller, GSkill Ares 1866 8GB blue kit, 4x Seagate SV35.5 2TB, 1x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB, 1x Samsung HD103UJ, 1x Samsung F4 2TB, Temp. Rebel9 Alu case, Corsair H60, 2x Icy Dock MB973SP-B, NZXT UI01, Enermax T.B. Silence on docks and cpu, Aurum 500W gold PSU. (Draws 65W average, doesn't peak above 100W at any time)

That might have very well been the issue, dJabba. I had an IcyDock 4bay plugged in via eSATA and a Drobo on one of the USBs.
When I took it all apart to reseat all of the connections and install the liquid, I disabled the eSATA drivers and switched over to USB for the Icy Dock.
I also replaced the CMOS battery since everything was out again. Since then I've not had a hiccup (other than BSODs when trying to hit 5.0Ghz).
Like you, I've been keeping USB devices unplugged unless needed and also 'Ejecting' them before a Shut Down/Restart.
Once I'm done trying to achieve the best OC I can get, it'll be on 24/7 and only restarted on occasion or install of software so I'll let things plugged in then.
