Default ASUS VE276 changing monitor settings

what is the sequence for using arrow keys from the menu? I can go up/down (awkwardly) and and eventually get to Contrast. But I can't get to dropdown for Contrast. I always end up at Menu again and have to start over.
I must be missing something, because this seems too complicated!
    Thanks

Yes you are missing a logically designed on screen display (OSD) setup and clearly documented instructions for your monitor.
The ASUS OSD design and documentation are both user hostile.

I went through similar grief when I bought my ASUS VH242H monitor in 2009.
In spite of my initial OSD menu issue, the VH242H has been a great monitor and hasn't had any problems.

The attached image below is from your monitor's user manual and I've added several red boxes that should help you.

You will also need to get familiar with sections 3.1 OSD (On-Screen Display) menu through 3.1.2 OSD Function Introduction.

Several important notes from these sections:

    1. Press the MENU button to activate the OSD menu
    2. Press ▼ and ▲ to navigate through the functions. Highlight and activate the desired function by pressing the MENU button.
If the function selected has a sub-menu, press ▼ and ▲ again to navigate through the sub-menu functions.
Highlight and activate the desired sub-menu function by pressing the MENU button.
    3. Press ▼ and ▲ to change the settings of the selected function.
    4. To exit the OSD menu, press the S-button. Repeat step 2 and step 3 to adjust any other function.

    special notes:
    • In the Standard Mode, the Saturation, SkinTone, Sharpness, and ASCR functions are not user-configurable.
    • In the sRGB, the Saturation, Color Temp., SkinTone, Sharpness, Brightness, Contrast and ASCR functions are not user-configurable.
    • In the User Mode, colors of R (Red), G (Green), and B (Blue) are user configurable; the adjusting range is from 0 ~ 100.

The Hot Key feature should make things a bit easier.

Once you get the hang of using the OSD menu, you will probably have to go through the learning curve again in a week or two if you don't frequently make OSD menu changes.

Last year I bought a new ASUS PB278Q monitor and the OSD menu system was much easier to use, but it still took a little bit of effort to make OSD menu changes.

Take your time and if necessary, only make one change at a time, exit the OSD menu and then re-enter the OSD menu for additional changes.

    Good Luck!!

Oh, thank you so very much! The user manual was put in a *very* safe place years ago and is now lost to memory deficits. I've been spoiled, very seldom running into really bad anti-user situations.
Again, thanks for such great assistance!

You're welcome, glad to help out.

You can usually download the user manual from the manufacturer's web site, but I had quite a bit of trouble finding it using web searches. I avoid downloading manuals from websites that specialize in user manuals because most of them want to you sign up with them or they first want you to download and install their manual-download.exe program.

I did finally manage to download the manual from ASUS and you can download a copy of the VE276 user guide from: ASUS_VE276N_UserGuide_ENGLISH.pdf
