i had to reinstall windows last week, and after that my 5.1 speaker set stopped working, only the front left and right speakrs work

i have a c-media onboard 6 channel audio chip, and i've installed the latest drivers and i've checked the wiring, it's odd because when i turn on xear 3d the rear left and right speakers turn on but not the other's, and my center channel becomes my subwoofer and it sounds horrible, can anyone help? thanks

In the windows speaker settings, have you set it to 5.1ch speakers?

uuh polkaudio lol it's like the only 5.1 surround they have for specifically for pc um my front speakrs are connected directly to the io ports in the back of the motherboard, the orange and black ones for center/subwoofer and rear speakers are connected to an spdif addon, the orange and blacks are in the right ports too

Aside from double checking all your settings and connections (make sure that SPDIF is actually turned on, etc) I'm out of ideas. If it worked before, and not now, then it would almost have to be a software setting.

i just ran into the same problem!

after re-installing Windows XP Pro, i cant get sound out of the rear speakers, center, and my sub isnt working that well.

what drivers did you use? i used the latest nForce2 Unified Drivers, version 3.13. Before the format i was using 2.03...so i think its something to do with the new version....:( :(

just ran into something strange right now

i went into AudioHQ to switch around how many speakers i have.

there u can test the sound

    for example

a womans voice will say "front left" and the sound will come from only the front left speakers.

then she will say "center" and sound will only come from the center speaker

and what is strange is when the ladies voice says "front right" the sound comes from the front left speaker?!!?!?

this is starting to get weird :scream:
