I bought a nec accusync 75f monitor from a local wholesale(computer boulivard). After fully inspecting it, and having them shine the screen with glass cleaner, they packed it up while I was browsing the store.
That was over a week ago. Yesterday when I unpacked it to set it up, I found the power cord mains end touching the bare screen. So I pull it out of the box, sit it on the desk. At this point there is a few styrofoam specs all over it (like always). So I plug it turn it on and fire up the machine.
One of those styrofoam specs is a chip in the glass of the screen(looks like styrofoam when powered off). So I packed it back up and went to the store to inform them their shoddy packing has ruined my new monitor and I would like to exchange it for one that has not been damaged by shoddy packing.
Their answer was "accepting damaged goods for return hurts their profit margin" ,"they would only accept it for exchange only after it was fixed by nec" what? Now those are plain stupid answers. Excuse me, profit? Did somebody say profit? The last time they pissed me off I boycotted them for 6 months and dealt elsewhere(and they know it). $10000 lost sales for them. Now I am much busier, and 6 months means more like $30000+.
Who is the idiot now? Seems like a bad trade. What kind of profit does one monitor give compared to what the have and will lose again.
Anyway, I have talked to nec and they tell me it's covered under warranty but the catch is, shipping a 17" monitor across the country costs big bucks and takes a long time. I will see what they say today.
Does anyone know where to get a glass flat front for this monitor (not the picture tube)?

Save yourself the time, trouble, effort and money, Maximus
as i'm sure ya have auto part stores in Canada too, and that's all
the store ya need to fix the problem..............it's called Windshield/windscreen chip and crack repair glue in a tube
shouldn't run more than $10 usd.......one hell of alot cheaper and
quicker than shipping it across the continent heh:confused: :D

I have heard of this before. And have had repairs on car windshields before and sure it works but usually ends up with distortion.
I will see what nec says before trying anything. I would simulate a similar chip on an old junk working vga monitor and see the results first.
And I don't really care about the money, it's the principal of the matter that is more important.
