Usually use 1024x768 on monitor and TV (dual some of the time). Gaming varies from 1024 to 1280, depending on how readable things are on my 17" beast...

    1024x768 @85hz

Optimal refresh for your eyes is anything greater than 80hz. For those of us that spend a ton of time at the screen, it's something to think about.
If you think you know what I know and think you see what I see, than why are you asking me questions?

1280x1024/85Hz here...though the 1280x960 would be the "right" resolution (4:3). I use 1024x768 when gaming.

I have a 21" IBM monitor that I bought at a computer show for $180 US (used) Have had it for over a year and it works great. Currently use a Powercolor (ATi) 9000 w/ 128 and am upgrading to a Powercolor (ATi) 9600 XT as soon as it arrives next week.

In fact this largely depends on the person as most won't notice any difference above 60Hz but around 5% of ppl can't use anything less than 85Hz (a few need to use much more). Everybody is different on this score.

Dual 1024X768 85hz here, I cannot use anything under 85hz for more than an hour, my eyes start losin' focus and I get a damn headache. When I'm gaming I tend to use 100hz on my main monitor
