Thread: Video Capture

    Default Video Capture

My dad has a p4 2.4 1 gig of ram and a radeon 128 all in wonder card. His main use of this machine is to record old tv shows he likes. The problem is the audio is awful. Currently he has no sound card besides the one built into the mother board. Could this be the reason the audio is bad? He is capturing at the highest possible sampling level. Also, what are some good video compression programs?

Not sure but i would place my bet that using the integrated one is part of the problem. I used to always use integrated until i found out that older mobo's integrated could take up 20% of your CPU when using it. Once i switched to an Audigy 2 Zs Platinum i was amazed by the differance in sound quality.

As far as a compression program i have always been a big fan of virtual dub. Never tried it with TV shows but when i record things in FRAPS and need to compress the files virtual dub works like a charm.
