Default Setting up surround sound system

Hi, I'm a complete novice with regards to PC audio and have a couple of questions that I hoped someone could answer. I'm thinking of purchasing the Logitech X-620,Z-640 or the Altec Lansing 251; the problem is that I'm sure I'll need a couple of extra feet of wiring for the rear speakers. I'm told that I could buy some extension wires, but I have no idea what type of wires and whether I would have to rewire all the satellites or just plug the extensions in or what?
As you can see I'm pretty lost so any help would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, does anyone know how long the cables for the z-5300 are?

With the Z-640's, all you'd need is a pair of RCA cables, as well as a pair of RCA cable couplers to connect them to the speakers.
