Default No video signal at startup

When I start windows I get a message on my monitor that there is no signal the computer stops after a few seconds and turns off I then start it again and it starts but I have to go to safe mode, I then restart and the computer boots up perfectly, this is happening every time I start the computer. I am using windows 98 with an AMD duron 1,1ghz processor with a Sharp 18" TFT monitor I have a Voodoo 5500 graphics card and 512mb SD ram with a MAxtor 80gb hard drive, can anyone help please,

    Hi Verdana,
I think I have solved it I took out the voodoo card and plugged into the motherboard graphics, It is starting up everytime now the Voodoo was pretty dusty do you think that this could be the problem, I will clean it thoroughly and try it again as soon as I can get someone to unplug my system as I am disabled and it is very difficult for me to get down and do it. I will let you know,
    Thanks very much,
    Regards,
    Keith
