    Arrow AGP vs. PCI?

    AGP vs. PCI?

The 6600GT is in stock, but only in the PCI-Express 16x version. My motherboard has 1 AGP connection and 5 PCI, is the PCI version going to run alot slower then an AGP one? The AGP is labled 8x whilsts the PCI is labled 16x

PCIe is a whole new connector there are 1x slots for add-on components, and 16x for Video(2 of the video slots for SLI)

PCI and PCIe are two very diffrent things. Unless you have a mother board that you bought in the last few days then you dont have PCIe.

Yawgm0th, I remember you talking about a AGP tp PCIe bridge, does it go the other wayas well?

If there is one you could get the 6600GT(PCIe) and a bridge, again I dont know if thers is one or not.

You can get normal PCI video card but not anything in the high end, most I've seen is a 9550. And yes PCI is slower than AGP, but PCIe is faster than AGP.

Ya do not get PCI Express and PCI mixed up. The are two completely different things. Go with the AGP version as it is unlikely you have a PCi Express mobo.

AFAIK, the only bridge that's out is built on the cards themselves. The 6600GT has a PCI-E to AGP bridge (if it's labeld AGP, that is), but I don't know that you can even remove it. Now if they came out with one of those that you could buy for a reasonable price, I'd be very excited.

In any case, if you have an AGP slot and don't want to wait for the possiblity of such a thing (which might never happen), just get an AGP card. There's abosolutely no reason to get a PCI video card.

Nope. That video card is for the new PCI-Express x16 slot that the motherboard you point to does not support. That board has an 8x AGP port for video ... not PCI-Express.

Looks all good there... Again I'd wait till one shows up in stock at Newegg, but if you dont mind used stuff go for it.
