Got a cell phone lying around it? Sounds like some interference perhaps.

That's probably something to do with some charge left in the PC/Speakers when you cold boot it, rather than just a restart. Not exactly sure though

Ya, maybe it is the new HD noise interfering too

Like i said Tomb Raider Legend is out it dose the same thing to my friend and he has a sound blaster live 24bit to, I think creative might need new drivers for there sound blaster live 24bit. Know when i restart my computer the sound is fine. Could there be a problem with the pci slot its in because i dont understand when i play my games that where installed on my hard drive before I got this problem the sound is fine and I have 2 hd should i try installing a game to my master hd and see if i still get the problem.

First off all why are you using a sound card when you have 7.1 onboard auido? To me using a sound card on a mobo with built in sound is asking for trouble. Mabe there is a sound driver confilct, but you said it worked fine before so im not shure what it could be.

    -450W Heavy Duty Rosewill Powersupply
    -Samsung Syncmaster 940BF>>>NEW
-Seagate 250GB 16MB cache (perpendicular recording) with NCQ...

The sound card is much better than the onboard, and all motherboards made in the last five years have onboard, so what other purpose would soundcards serve?

You have disabled onboard sound in the BIOS, right? Usually the problems you'll get are much worse than this (the card will refused to install), but this could be caused by not having disabled onboard sound.

My onboard sound is disabeld. my mobo automaticly disables onboard sound if I have a pci sound card instaled. And i think all sound cards need new drivers because of tomb raider its just a weaird game it would work fine one secend and mess up if I exit and go back on the game. Im thinking about moving it to a different pci slot
