Sorry to bust your bubble, CRT flickers and do give you eyestrain. If you have a Cellphone that has a camera, fire a shot at a CRT monitor, it flickers. Go for LCD, power saving, no flicker, and cool to run.

the ONLY reason that i run CRTs is because i cant afford even a cheap lcd (which would be crap anyway)
but, sorry, bf2nut, the better lcd monitors are far ahead of crt monitors. just read any decent article about the subject

Yes I just got my new syncmaster 940bf its one of the best for gaming bf2nut, its got 2ms response time, 700:1 contrast ratio, and 300cm2 brightness. Its lightyears ahead of my old 17crt. I got it off ebay for $199!! Its like 260 on newegg. You will like a lcd better and your electric bill will be lower!

LOL But will you see a large drop in price or will it be pennies on the dollar a month for the electric bill?

Also, CRT monitors have a flicker that is inperceptibe to the human eye at a high enough frequency or so I heard. I dont care if my camera doesnt like it only because it is working at a different speed. AND at 5 MS rt and below does it really make a dif between a screen with 2Ms and 5Ms? I know there is a difference, but I mean a truly perceptive benefit that would justify spending extra $ on it.

CRTs only have a perceptible flicker at refresh rates lower than 72Hz. More importantly, there is no available display technology with higher color fidelity than CRTs. When SED comes out, CRTs will be obsolete. Until then, there is still plenty of reason to get a CRT.
