Default How do you know if your HDTV supports 1080i

Hi, I have a new Goodmans 26" LCD screen which is HD ready.
I want to how you can tell if it is able to support 1080i.
The screen is connected to my PC with a DVI-DVI connection. I have been able to enable 720p which is great quality it the image looks a bit big. The screen has a max resolution of 1366x786 but for some reason anythink over 1280x720 dosnt display properly..

Anyway i changed the TV HD single on my graphics card (Nvidia 7900GT OC HDTV Via DVI) from 720p to 1080i and the display became very jolty and it was smaller than the screen itself. I tried different resolutions but the same jolty appearance occured. Does this mean my TV screen can not support HD 1080i.
