    Default Want a sound card

Am going through my pc, upgrading here and there, and my next target is my sound card/or lack thereof.

Been running with onboard sound and think its time to get something more serious.

    My system is:

    Athlon 64 3500+ 90nm
    Asus A8V Deluxe VIA chipset
    1 gig PC3200 DDR ram
    PNY Geforce 7600 GS AGP
    580W Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Power supply
Cambridge soundworks speakers (4 plus Sub)

So, my question is what sound card would you recommend?

I have a couple of things I would quite like included, mainly a remote, as I feel it would be useful for movie watching and so forth.

I like the look of the X-FI Fata1ity bad boy, but I have read a LOT of negative stuff about it, crackling etc.. And I believe my MOBO is one of the ones it has issues with.

That being said, I still kinda want it.

    What do you guys think?

    What out there is hot?

If the SB-Xfi xtreme music doesnt have problems with the board, you can get a remote for it, but i'm almost positive that it will have the same problems that thee Fatal1ty would have.

It would be quiet but I have 1 noisy Vantek that blows like a turbine. A crappy generic case which with cammo paint and holes all over.

Well, if anyone knows anything about the issues with the X-FI, or if there are people who are running it, or a similar card on the Asus A8V Deluxe (VIA K8T800Pro chipset) without problems, please let me know!

So anyway, what cards do people recommend.
