    Hello.
Ive been having some issues with my video and Im trying to figure out what the problem is. Im getting strange highlither yellow lines that scroll with the screen and flickering black outs. Is my video card pooping out? or could it be the monitor?

I'm guessing its the monitor - doesn't sound to me like a typical graphics card problem.

take it around to a mates place and see how it runs on his computer

faulty monitor can't cause the PC to freeze.

have you tried updating the drivers for the video card?

and I hope it isn't overclocked - cause that introduces more areas of potential problems

Ok I've confirmed that its not the monitor. IT's the video card. I havent tried updating drivers yet but im pretty sure that wont do much. Ive had the card for a bout 3 yrs. Is there any cleaning or anything on certain parts I can do if the card is going? I cant afford a new one right now.

randomly but increasingly more often. When I fire up a video game it usualy doesnt get botched until later in the game. so maybe its memory? I keep my internals pretty well dust free. I was wondering if a little goof off or something on the connectors might help out.

it could be heat related - as you play the game, your computer will heat up, try putting a "desk" fan (a big fan used to cool people) pointing at the side of your computer (case open), play a few games and see if the problem re-occurs, if it doesn't, its probably a heat issue.

Also make sure you fans are actually working properly, over time they can start to die and run slower etc. I've had graphic card fans do this as well.

I'd also remount the heatsink on the video card as its of the age where the thermal contact/paste/material may have failed.
