Default 8800GTX only good when used with good processor

8800GTS and 8800GTX versions looked to perform same when not using a good processor with those.. 8800GTX card needs atleast the core 2 duo E6400 to perform around 27% better than GTS. Even AMD X2 failed at this.

see this benchmarks. with amd AM2 and intel c2d cpus.

LOL! You think? What you fail to reailze is that if used with a large high resolution monitor then the CPU won't need to be as strong. So I'd say you are about half right, no more no less.

i have seen it at some forums that. its only a 3dmark score. that is with the cpu tests.. but the ingame FPS remains unaffected much though u have a slower processor than those C2Ds. any comments??

This is not at all true I have an athlon 5200X2 and a single 8800gts and my 3DMARK06 score is better than most with E6600 and a single gts http://service.futuremark.com/orb/re...=0&UID=8598789

I just got my rig from http://www.dualcorexpress.com/ and it scores 10,051 (see link above)My Cpu Is overclocked .25 Ghz and my cpu scores 2246 on the cpu test
    Now heres a E6600 with similar overclocks (2.5Ghz) running 1 gts http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1431578
His E6600 did score higher but not by much at 2385 but his cpu cost about 100 dollars more than mine and my overall system performance was considerably better hes at 9275.A few of the newer athlon X2's have bigger caches (FX at a way cheaper price)5200,5600,6000 all have twice the L2 cache of the others. These models tend to keep up with the core 2's pretty well.

What needs to be realized is that 3d '06 includes the CPU performance in the final score...to compare 3d capabilities only, 3d '05 needs to be used.
