The type of video card you are running would be useful knowledge since not all graphics adapters have a means of monitoring the temperature of the board and/or chipset.

    try running GPU-Z.

Some cards dont have gpu temperature diodes installed on them, e.g my friend's 8800GT cant show temperatures possibly because the temp diode isnt installed on it.

just run GPU-Z and go to the sensors tab... if your card has a thermocouple in it, GPU-Z will give you all the temps the card can tell you... if you don't have any thermo diodes in the card then you won't see the sensors tab

you can get GPU-Z here -> GPU-Z Video card GPU Information Utility
