Default MAJOR ISSUE!!!! Laptop monitor very dim after PSU replacement!!! HEEELP!

Ok, so I went to COMPUSA and I bought a new PSU for my wife's laptop. I set it to 19v and the system came up fine, monitor and all. Then I rebooted and now the monitor is WAAAAAY dim, I can't even read what is on the screen at all. I try to up the brightness, but to no avail nothing is working to get this thing fired up right. any ideas???? Need some help here, thanks!

I set the PSU to 19v just like the original. If I use a flash light tho, I can see everything, but it is so dim you can only see so much at a time.

    Two

    1. Anyone heard anything on the ULTRA Pro Universal Power Adapter???
    2. Should I crank the voltage up a volt or two, or will that damage the laptop? (the PSU volts are 15v-24v)

Thanks for your thoughts and input...

    what laptop we're talking about?

19V is only the voltage - sufficient wattage is the magic word making your screen brighter

Yeah I have a Gateway that allows you to set as energy saving on or off in bios that will dimm the display panel.

Sorry, I haven't gotten back to ya'll. Thanks for the ideas... The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5610z, have had it for about 3 1/2 years with no issues. Great laptop! Anyhow, I've been really searching this out and some are saying it maybe the backlight inverter otr the backlight itself. It's a 70 dollar fix (inverter) or 10.00 fix (backlight), which is REALLY EASY to do (inverter) and most say replace the whole screen if you have to change the backlight-Pain in the butt (soldering and all that mess), I have already taken the screen apart and all that jazz, so no worries there, but I gotta figure out which is really the issue... any other thoughts?

BTW, I did, set the power settings to the highest so there is no power saving going on and the screen dims whether it is the NEW psu or the OLD one. so I dunno... thanks for the input.
