Question Screen flicker after RAM upgrade on desktop

    Hi,
    I have upgraded my RAM from Corsair Dominator 4096MB DDR2 XMS2-8500 1066MHz (5-5-5-15) (TWIN2X2048-8500C5D) (4x1GB) to Corsair XMS2 8192MB DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz (5-5-5-18) (TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX) (4x2GB) and I get screen flicker when I look on youtube and play games.

I have tried DRAM volt 1.9 and 2.1, I have also tried to set the pci-e to 100 MHz manually but it did not make any difference. Some time when the screen flicker starts the graphic driver restarts and I can play for a bit more and other times I get BSOD.

Is there any one that has any idea how I should change the settings in the BIOS to stop the flicker and get the system stable.

That is C&C 4 but it is hard to se as the screen flickers to much.

This is how it looks like when i minimized C&C 4 after the flicker had started.

    My computer specs are:

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz 1333MHz

I would run memtest to make sure its your ram. But it looks like it just do an RMA.

What tRD do you have set, and how much MCH Voltage did you apply?

You need to increase MCH Voltage for sure, maybe 1.24-1.32 for 8GB

Set MCH Core to 1.2-1.24 for 4GB of ram, also set your memory voltage to spec amount if it is more than 1.9V

Put all "ref" voltages in Auto

And for 8GB of memory you will need tRFC of 72-84 or more at least

All the value I wrote above is what auto sets it as.

I have tried to use 72-86 on tRFC and the MCH core at 1.24v but it did not change anything, I then tired the memory at 666MHz but that did not make any different either.

I have put my old memory pack in. I will properly return the memory on Monday and stick whit my old ones.
Thanks for taking your time and help me.

K, was just making sure you had those on auto.

And sorry I advised for 4GB, but mentioned 8GB? You may need 1.28-1.32 MCH for 8GB and 82-96 tRFC

So try that before you return them, just in case.

If that does not work, it may be faulty memory or just not compatible not sure?
