    yeh here you go bud,

For some reason it shows i have 4gig running at 400mhz but it is infact 800mhz but its none dual core pc2-6400 so its quite old too.

I think my whole system could do with a bit of an upgrade, could you offer any reccomendations on this board for me please ? :- Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5 Intel X48

And i am thinking about getting this processor to but into the board :- Q8300 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.5GHz 4MB-cache (1333FSB)

Im just a little bit stuck now as what ram i should buy to make the system run at its best. Any help would be really appreciated.

Again, thanks for your help. :)

    Awsome website!

Not sure what you meant about dual core memory?

But ya, based on the voltages and CAS shown for that kit I would recommend getting a new kit of 2x1GB 6400 (Or 2x2GB 6400 if you plan to use x64 OS)

X48 is a good board, so that would be fine, or get a P45 based board since it is newer, either would be fine with that CPU you mention

That could be fine... 400... some bios' see it at 400 and not 800. You can adjust it in the mobo bios to see if you can get it to run faster but only move it 10% to see what happens. machine might not run.

You can also try running the game in DX9 vs DX10 or 11. Both of those will weigh heavy on the newer graphics card. Old one only was able to run Dx9.

The 5770 only has a 128but memory interface. The faster GDDR5's extra bandwidth isn't going to fix that. Lower your settings in the CCC and in the games control panel. You might find that you're expecting too much from a "lower" end video card.

I just saw this video... http://www.tm-tube.com/video/13988/Collisions...... seems to be a lot going on. Large draw distance, shadows, smoke particles, pretty good graphics. You're card might be taxed...... both cards...... do they have 1gig of video memory or are any of them 512 models ?

I just ran the demo. lotta good graphics going on. I think it would be something to get my attention if you could use your racing wheel instead of the keypad arrows..... too bad.

Yeah! That image of cpuz is showing you got 1 Dimm in slot #1 2048=2GB 400Mhz x 2 gives you the DDR. It = DDR-800. So if that is in Slot#1 put the other in Slot#3 for a dual channel system on intel motherboards. You can scroll to your other slots and see the other memory that you have. Look in the blue area of your image. Scroll in that area. Thats where you look when on the cpuz program in the SPD tab.
Below is an example you see 2 images with slot#1 and Slot#3 A different program but it works the same way.

I just suggested new memory based on the CAS 6 at 800Mhz, seems fairly old or cheaper, so new memory would be good to get and that also might not be compatible either.

basically my concern is that i have just bought an xfx hd5770 and i know for a fact that it isnt running as fast as it should, for starters im only averaging 25fps in multiplayer with Trackmania in multiplayer where as my old sapphire 1950x pro ran the game at around 50fps on a 42" plasma ....... It just seems like every game i try to play is holding back and stuttering. I do know that some of my hardware is perhaps holding the card back a bit but not this much surely ?

Im not too good on techy stuff so i joined here with the hope that someone could help me out. I have just got that little programme called cpu-s and gpu-z to see if that can tell me anything and i was quite shocked to be honest with you.

Running cpu-z it states that my hd 5770 card has a Core speed of 157mhz and memory of 300mhz ....... wtf ?

Unfortunately my motherboard doesnt run in pci-e 2.0 mode because its that dated and my processor is the same but i wouldnt have thought that it would make my graphics card play up as much as this.

Basically i think i must have something set wrong somewhere and i am really tired of searching for a solution, could one of you guys please help me sort this out... Either im stuck or i need one massive upgrade ........ oh no :(

    Thanks all

i just want to say i had the same card a x1950 pro and now have the 5770 and i cansay that the 5770 is way faster in all games than a x1950,157 core and 300mhz ram are your idle clock speeds, load clocks will be 860 core and 1200mhz ram,and the 128 ram bus will have no affect in games at all,its most likely maxxing your cpu or ram now, where as the x1950 wasnt,i get between 70-80fps in crysis online 60fps for crysis single player all on highest settings, the only game it suffers on is metro2033 dropping to 25fps in dx11 mode, but all ati cards struggle with that game its just optimised for nvidia, trust me the 5770 will blow the x1950 out of the water and can beat the gtx260

upgrade with a h55 mb and a core i3 chip, cheap and more powerfull than the old q series quadcores

heres the frames you should be getting with an old dualcore chip and 1066mhz ddr2 ram,

    Hi guys,
Sorry its been a while since i last posted to my own thread, its because i have being saving up for my new build. After lots of research and hours of reading i pretty much found that my best bang for buck was an i3 setup. But its an i3 setup on steriods :D I was intending to go for an i5 but i just didnt think that i'd use that kind of cpu to its full potential so i opted for an i3 instead and saved myself a bit of coin. It is a far superior system to my old pentium D945 :D and i am amazed at the quality of this build and the best thing about it is that i built it all by myself (first build)

    Ok my new spec is..

Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator Case

    Intel i3 530 2.93ghz overclocked @ 4.20ghz :D

    RAM Corsair XMS3 (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel

    Motherboard Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard

    GPU XFX HD 5770

Cooler Artic Cooling Freezer 7 CPU Cooler

Corsair 400w psu (bargain at the moment and rund my graphics with ease!)

I am really chuffed with it to be honest, I honestly didnt realise my rig was so far behind in technology when it came to gaming. I have no bottlenecks what so ever now in any game that i play @ 1920 x 1280. Graphics are sharp and silky smooth and im over the moon. I see 70fps on most games at high res and i dont think you can beat that for just over 350 :)
I was going to stick with the LGA 775 socket but i thought to myself, for around about the same money i could have a newer, faster more responsive system and at this price i couldnt afford to miss out! Ok it isnt a quad core but if you read about the technology on this little bad boy you'll know why i opted for it. Partly because i was on a tighter budget yes, however it has the Hyperthreading Technology onboard which apparently makes this cpu think its a quad core... happy days :) Also its 32nm as apposed to the 45nm of the q8300 so that was another thing that swung me. All in all a very cheap quality gaming rig that i am chuffed to bloody bits with :D

im glad you went with the i3,i love those chips, even with the onboard graphics you can play most games when cpu is overclocked
