This is one of my recent projects. I made it with a pair of Alpine Bass Engines, and a cheap-o crossover.

All I can say is, its awesome!!

Playing quake with this chair is unbelievable.

When you arent sitting in it, the bass shakes it so much, it dances around the room.

Bass engines are basically jsut the voice coil of a Subwoofer, so there is no actual sound produced, just thumping.

I got mine for $50(US) on ebay about a year ago.

    Heheh very cool!

So, how exactly do you hook it up to your PC?

I have my PC run into my stereo reciever. It has an A/B speaker selector, so I have the quake chair hooked up to the "b" speaker outputs on the back of the reciever, then i jsut bust out my headphones and go to town. ;)

As a self-confessed Quake III adict, I have to say this is one of the coolest ideas I have seen. I thought upgrading my video card was the most important part of playing quake, but maybe I should be looking more closely at Audio. Very cool chair!

Saw those Bass Engines years ago when they came out and never saw any use for them as I'm not really a car audio fan but thats perfect!!
Might give a nice massaging effect too! :D
