I'm still trying to find a lighter colour contast to go with the pink, maybe a grey background would be better, but I'm still not sure

I really appreciate the time everyone has taken to look and reply. :thumb:

sis - I nicked the bar from your page and had a bit of a play - (I used Jasc PSP btw) and did a very crude Magic Wand and Flood Fill just to get a bit of an idea - if you like it, you can always tart it up.

the colour in the background is a very pale/dirty-pink

edit: the RGB is 249/217/238 respectively

    (soz about the width!)

Tah, but I used Xara webstyle to do the bar and titles, so it's not too much hassle to change the background colour of it.

I'm just a bit worried the pink I used will be a tad too bright now if I change the background colour. :?:

What do you think about this for a bg colour?

honestly? better than the black :thumb: , but just imho I would go alllllll the way down the scale to variations on white - eg pale blue/grey/pink bgs. ;)
I like the toned down pink on the bar/ribbon.

I like the site ...the links a helpful and it the site doesn't look overdone...but if i were you i would go with something more suttle instead of the hot pink...just my opinion tho.. the bg is just fine if anything a dark gray..

Okay, okay...... I've given up on the pink and black contrasts and gone for a totally new colour scheme. Let me know what you think now....:?:

oooooooh :thumb: I like it :thumb:

(can I be a teensy bit picky here? you can just about see where you have placed the jpegs onto the background because the backgroun of the pics and the page are just slightly different).

but........ a HUGE improvement in readability!
