Just had a thought today about this...
If you're as sick as me, then you're dreaming of new parts, or a complete new system all the time. I go to some online store or computer vendor, play with the configuration page, or fill a wish list full of all the coolest high-octane parts that I know of. Alas, I'm a working stiff, and it's all just a fantasy, but I thought it would be fun if the folks here indulged in a little fantasy....
Here's the deal: If cost was no object at all, what would your dream system be? Be as elaborate or detailed as you'd like, but limit it to a single machine, and one that would actually work, with parts available today. Also, what would you use this machine for?
To start us off, here is my present configuration that I will build as soon as I win the Lotto, or find Bill Gates' credit card laying in the street:
    RioWorks HDAMB Motherboard, Dual-Opteron...................... $471
    (2) Opteron 244 processors(1800MHz@???)........................$16 50
    4 GB Corsair CM74SD1024RLP-2700 DDR.............................$1180
    (2) WD Raptor 36.7GB HDs in RAID 0 config...........................$270
    (4) WD 2500JB HDs..(A TERAbyte!).......................................$ 1020
    Enermax 550W (Peak 650w) EG651P-VE FMA Power Supply..$155
Custom Asetek Vapochill for Dual-Processor...........at least $1200
Windows XP Pro (sorry Linux fans, I like games)....................$145
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro Ultimate 256MB...........................$575
    Sony pfm50c1 50inch plasma display....................................$8200
    M-Audio Delta 1010-LT 10input 10 output audio card.............$270
    Creative MegaWorks THX 6.1 650 speakers........................$345
Total before keyboard, mouse.....and any other crap I'm too tired to think about now but will add later...................................._____
    .................................................. ..........................................$15481

Now wasn't that fun!? I'd be using this machine as a crushing SETI W/U machine, as well as an Uber-Gamer machine.........probably at the same time...

    :flames: :devil win

theres nothing wrong with a dual machine for gaming :p, you can dedicate your game to one cpu while the other handles the rest

It takes ALOT more than that to scare me m8.. :devil win

Besides it would be really stupid to buy sata drives if you have all the money in the world.. 15.000 RPM SCSI is the way, can't be beaten in speed.. Sure It could cost ya a couple of thousand dollars but so what..
