Don't know how I missed this thread, minibubba, but just wanted to say that you're excitement about going back to school seems to let us know that now see the value in higher education and wish to achieve a goal. Both are necessary, if you are to succeed.

Also, I'd better not see you loitering around this place (too much) or I'll come out there and kick your a$$.

My oldest son is your age and has the same distractions as you. UF has not been too happy with his performance. My lectures have not been very effective. We'll see.

    Good luck to you. :thumb:

PS. Consider getting a job in anything but computers. If you go to school to learn about computers, go to work and work on or with computers, and then go home and recreate with computers, you may very well burn out on them. ;)

no worries, I've learned my lesson in the past conserning disractions. It just took a swift kick is the arse to get me back on track, and a very generous person.

It doesn't look like I'll be working on computers except for at school and on my own time. I might have a job working night at Home Depot in receiveing from 8-4. One of the other students is a manager and is hooking me up with it. It's full time and pays well so I shouldn't have any problems paying the bills now.

But doing well and getting my degree is my main priority, everything else comes after that. I expect I'll stay a regular face around here even after classes get into full swing, but I'll keep it within reason.

It's a culture shock to start off with but I'm sure you'll settle into it soon enough.:thumb:

thank you ...but seeing as this is my 4th college to date, I tend to be more of a shock to my classmates and professors than they are to me ;)

just thought you guys might like an update: it's mid-terms this week and it looks like I'll finish up the quarter with a 4.0... for the first time in my life! :D

Landed a part-time job as well. It's not related to computers, although I did get assigned one for some menial work. It's nothin' special, but it pays the bills.

Next quarter should be more interesting though. I'll get a full 11 weeks on the workings of win2k pro, server, adv server, and possibly enterprise. I'll also have my second quarter of VB and another math class if I don't test out of it.

I'm sure you all don't want to hear all of this, but going back to college kicks ass and I'm just excited

    Congrats Minibubba!

I know what it's like. I went back to school this year too, for an Advanced Diploma in Computer Science (new terminology set forth by the province decrees all three year diploma programs be designated as Advanced Diploma).

It's a bit wierd at first, especially when you are 5-7 yrs older than 95% of the people in your class. Right now in first year, first semester, it's pretty much a lot of stuff I've already done so it's not causing me problems (except for the course on C++, never used it before, and running a 95% avg in it). We move on to more difficult stuff after Christmas and beyond, so I'm looking forward to that (except the math part, lol).

Remember, you're not alone in this!
