Most people, like myself, use an image editing program such as Photoshop to make them. There isn't really a tutorial on how to make a signature image. Rather, there are tutorials on how to make certain effects using Photoshop, which can enhance the visual appeal of an image. For Photoshop tutorials, I recommend www.good-tutorials.com, because as the name implies, they're, uhh...good.

You can always ask someone to make you a signature and/or avatar if you feel you aren't skilled enough as well.

Arsenal11: Mine were made with Macromedia Fireworks, but Adobe Photoshop is another great program to use.

Paint Shop Pro is another good program to use as well.

I personally swear by Photoshop. While there are other programs that can imitate and even best (in very few cases) what Photoshop can do, the fact that it allows for so much more than the other programs makes it the natural choice for most people.

Still, PSP has some nice tools, and when artwork is coloured with it, it has a vibrancy and luster Photoshop can't seem to beat.

I like Paint Shop Pro 7 myself, I use it for doing drawings and other miscellany artwork from time to time
