Thread: A story of sadness about the "outside"

  1. Default

So, heres a short story about my day yesterday, and why you should never get your hopes up about anything :)

Me and my friend were at the local mall, which we go to about once every 6 months, cuz it sucks, is infested with 14 year old teenie boppers (no offense minibubba) and its just dirty. But I wanted a new flask for my avid Captain Morgan's consumption. And the mall was the place to go. Anyway, Im merrily strolling along munching on some Chick-Fil-a, and all of a sudden I catch what I thought was Xaser III case sitting in a window. I was like, wtf mates, what store would have something like that sitting there, so i go to investigate. And shazaam, a computer store, and not the usual mom and pop setup, I say Volcano 7+'s, Asus A7N8X, Cold Cathode lightning kits. I nearly crapped myself.

Now one thing you have to realize, I live in an area that if I ran across someone that could even spell computer, I'd be impressed, so this shop was like the Pope living in harlem.
Well I wait for the shopkeep to come out so I can start the inquiring and find out how much this noob knows. So this guy comes out, and hes fat, which is a good sign right off the bat, because fat people rule, trust me, I know. Plus hes eating Chick-Fil-A too, so im really starting to consider buying **** off this guy. Well the conversation starts, and I was pretty impressed until I asked im if he carried Epox boards, and he said "No, they're all high-end products, very expensive, no market around here for them." I was pretty crushed. He also ended every sentence with "...but we can order it." It was a downward spiral not looking to end anytime soon. So then I got on the question of Heatsinks, and he started to explain to me how much better the Volcano 11 was than the Volcano 7, because the numbers are higher. So of course, I stopped him, for fear of having to take out the .45 and ending this poor saps miserable existence right there.

So then out of the back of my mind, pops the idea that hey, this guy is pretty stupid, but pretty suave, so he probably doesnt sell low-end stuff to stupid people, so, he should have a good amount of barton 2500's that have been collecting dust, which mean, shazaam, unlocked multiplier. So I whip out the wad of cash to so im not bull****in, and started to ask about the week his 2500's were manufactured. Obviously he says, well, theres no way for me to tell what week they were made, unless i call AMD and ask them (haha, he was trying to be funny, until my friend slit some kids throat, and he realized his humor was not appreciated) So I managed to convice him to rip open one of his reatil boxes to check the engraving. I got down, took a look, and guess what!!! 0347.....I was crushed. SO I told him his ****ty processor was no good, and that id be ordering from newegg anyway. He then started yelling that because i opened it I had to buy it. Of course, I didnt open it, he did, and he had security cameras to prove it. Snap! So, after he went running to cry to his mom, I grabbed some UV reflective IDE cables, threw 2 bucks on the counter, and ran off like a tart. My friend followed shooting anyone who got in the way.

As we made our way to the get-a-way behicle (the Buick from the People Living in the foums thread) I thought back and realized that no matter what, never trust the owner of a computer shop, because even if they're not gay, they're gonna **** you in the ***.

    Peace :)

Gotta love it when some guy whos selling you computer stuff knows less then you do. I went to a local shop once(not that it doesnt happen often, just this situation) while building a computer for a buddy, and I asked the guy if the 2500+ they were selling was a Batorn core. It seemed insanely cheap to me, so I thought maybe its an old 2500+ they made on the Thoroughbred core, even though I was sure they didnt. He looked at me, and said "Its an XP core".

Makes me wonder what crap they sell to other people. But they guy turned out to be cool, didnt know his stuff, but he was cool.

People who know stuff about computers don't have time to be sales people. They are always too busy picking on them and telling stories about them on internet forums... :)

Well, If you run a shop, and you're posting on this forum, you may exclude yourself from that statement :)

I don't see the point in buying anything from a computer shop unless you really need it the same day. :)

    Internet is mutch better:

    1. You get "fresh" parts as they sell huge amounts, fresh cpu's for example and newest revisions on other stuff.

    2. It's a helluvalot cheaper.

    3. Just pick what you want and place the order. Not having to deal with some smacktard trying to sell you their latest offering
"best deal in the world according to them" : omg:

    Just my :2cents: hehehe

now why in the hell would that offend me? I stay clear of malls for the same reason and I'm hardly 14

anyway, I could tell you about a guy that tried to sell me a MX440 as a high end gaming card the other day, but I'll spare you all from it; it would haunt your dreams for years to come...
I've gone too far and need to move on!
