I had a car accident today... here is what I wrote for insurance purposes...

    Had better days :(

    Car Accident Incident Report

On Tuesday 2nd of March 2004 at roughly 6.20pm I was driving down Centre Road (Springvale / Clayton South area) in the direction of Springvale road heading towards Coles supermarket. Noticing I was not next to double lines and incoming traffic on the opposite two lanes was completely clear for at least one kilometer (giving enough safe room to overtake), I entered the right lane with the intent to get into the right lane a little further down the road which would have enabled me to turn right up Springvale road.

As I pulled out into this lane within the speed limit, an old model Holden Kingswood with registration plates “ABH 897” pulled out in front of me without indicating his intention to do so. I immediately beeped my horn and he stopped very briefly and then continued to pull out. I believe his intention was the same as mine, to pull out into the other lane and get into the further right turning lane to turn right up Springvale road (which is the street he lives on). I also think he did not check his rear view mirror before pulling out in front of me. If he had checked his mirrors, he would have seen I was in the process of overtaking and collision would have been avoided. I swerved trying to avoid collision but he pulled too far out and he hit the left side of my car and in the process of trying to avoid collision, he forced me to swerve further to the right. After this happened he turned into a side street and waited for me to come back, which I did.

I was able to keep control of the car after this and immediately pulled into the next closest private drive way on the right hand side of the road and turned the car off.

Uninsured drivers make it tuff for responsible motorist world wide.
But, from those pics it looks like no more than replacement drivers door and reworked front quarter panel & rear door.
But regaurdless of your deductable, the uninsured driver will cause your rates to increase..........or at least thats the way it works in North America. I don't suppose it's still Monday down under as well:cry:

Not good Mr T, but be thankful you weren't seriously hurt.
There's nothing more annoying than to have an accident and it not be your fault.

A person can drive around without an insurance that will pay for any damage he might cause??

    That's illegal here.

I'll have to see what the insurance company says tomorrow - I'm not sure how it all works but when you get your car rego you pay money for third party insurance so maybe that will come into it.
