Keep in mind that smoothwall is only a modified kernel with other apps for routing/gateway only and as a 20mb download will give you a good idea as to why linux is turning up on everything from IBM mainframes to watches, but won't give you as good an idea on what a full distro is capable of. I don't have any MS software on my comp but I can still produce web pages, watch DVD's and play Quake3A, about the only thing I can't do at the moment on linux is make Flash movies but there is a project working on that.
It will give me somewhere to start as I have a couple of old pc's around here that will handle that and bein' setup as a server while I work on something else for these other versions(RedHat7.1 and Mandrake 8) that I have here atm. ;)

Yep - SmoothWall is a very slick and easy-to-install package. I like it as a firewall :thumb:

Some people just don't have a sense of humor, Andy.

I do have a sense of humor....its just when I clicked on the "quote" link his evil plan to redirect potential slackers reading this forum from the web site of goodness and light was exposed as a link to the spawn of the devil.
