That term is a bit antiquated.
Though I do believe it is still used with much fondness by the KGB:?:

    And it stands for?

And on that topic, I thought KGB and the GRU merged into something else? Or am I wrong?

I do believe that CCCP is the acronym for the Russian language of whatever it was they called the country.

As to the merger - I'm not sure, perhaps they are now one of the many organizations spewing unsolicited emails:?:

I got some from Russia this morning actually (well, supposedly it's from there).

4 of them from an org known as SFAT; Sex Feinds Against Terrorism. Their motto is, blow your load, not a bomb.

No kidding ---- I wonder why I even open Outlook Express anymore:hammer:

    Tried that twice.

This is the 2nd time now and in exactly the same way. I opened it this mornin' to do the news and as I got to deletin' the 64th infected email I thought that I'd mistakenly deleted a good email. So I went to the deleted folder and checked then went back to the inbox when the program stop respondin'. I C+A+D it closed but it hasn't been able to start back up again. Just becomes unresponsive. This has happened twice before and both times will eventually come good but how long it takes is another question.

Bloody annoyin' though and I really can't do much with this setup till my new mobo gets here for the new setup (maybe an IE6 sp1 prob but I'm not sure).

CCCP is a transliteration of Cyrillic SSSR Sojus Sowjetskich Sozialis****cheskich Respublic, equivelent to Union of Soviet Socialist Repblics

Thanks pvd, I knew it was something like that...

Wiggo...start using Eudora, it can handle anything!! And it's free if you don't mind some advertising otherwise it's only $35 US I think.

I have outlook but I only use it to sync my PDA. It seems the MS products (outlook and express) are magnets for the virus makers.

Hope the proggie comes back to life soon for you :thumb:

Thanx for the tip but I'll stick with OE as it's workin' again and one thing that I've found with other programs a lot is that they don't handle very long url's well at all (a lot of the news linkages that come thru here from sources using these are a real pain as either the links are broken or some portion of it missin') and/or the formatin' sux plus my anti-virus locks into OE very well too. ;)
