Lets put it this way, many years ago an Aboriginal man made a prediction that during this year there would only enough livestock left in Northern NSW to stand under the shade of "ONE" tree.

Considering the amount of livestock being processed through the Abattoirs atm he's prediction is looking all too clear.

The Abattoirs has been working 2 mutton chains and a beef chain at full capacity during the week and working weekends as well trying to keep up with the demand from the farms wanting to get rid of their stock because there is absolutely no feed around and to buy one bale of hay (not lucerne) it's costing them from $35 Aus up. That's a pretty scary thought considering the rubbish they're buying is only straw. I'd hate to see what they're paying for the lucerne.

I drive through the farming district everyday and notice each farm diminishing their stock day by day. All that is left in the paddocks is dirty and the occassional bush of weed.

So, all in all this prediction is looking pretty well spot on.

*bottles up some raindrops and mails it to WS*

Sounds like you guys are going through what we have been living with....1.5yrs with very little of anything but hot dry weather, fires that won't quit and wondering if it will ever end.

They say we have a bit of El Nino coming this year...I can only hope it affects OZ for the better. It seems to be helping here a little.

Now they are saying we have to watch for the mud slides due to the loss of vegitation from all the fires we had in So Cal this year.

But I gotta tell ya.. after that long without a storm, watching the rain fall for two days was wonderful!
