Asher, his GF and myself should be flying out to America tomorrow for a bit of a holiday. I say should since we are waiting for a VISA to arrive. :hammer:

Apart from the obvious things like Disney Land, Universal Studios and so on, what are some of the things we should make time to see in LA, Las Vegas and San Diego?

    : peace:

ohh gads... and I can't think of much at the moment..lol

I like Magic Mountain far better than Disneyland. They have bigger, better and badder rides n stuff.

If you are an animal lover you really should take the time to visit the San Diego Zoo, it's world famous.

Venice Beach is really a sight...it's got some great people watching areas and some of the worlds most bizzare walks of life.

The consumer electronic show is up in Las Vegas this weekend.. all the new cool gadgets are there for the looking.

What sort of things are you looking to do while here?

Non-computer stuff, we go to Taiwan for that. Just touristy stuff basically.

Now I've set that, what are some places to get computer hardware from priced well? I might look at picking up a DVD writer over there.

Ya mean like a real live store type place that you can walk into and not sit at a monitor and order it online?

PC Club has some good prices if you know what you are looking for. They seem to cater to the user that doesn't mind getting their hands dirty, but you gotta know the quality of the brand you are looking for. They are sort of a brown paper bag sort of place. Nothing glamerous, but far cheaper than say.... Comp USA.

    PC Club is a chain.

Me.... I have a friend that owns her own shop so I get all my stuff through her. If I am in an "ohhh dang, I forgot to pick up that widget" situation, I'll run up to PC Club.

Frey Electronics is another place with good prices and usually a good selection. They tend to sell a lot of "end of product line" sort of stuff though.

    Frey's is a chain.

I am sure others (more seasoned than I) have better ideas than me though.

We have a Computer Fair (sort of like a market place or swap meet) once a month at the LA Fair grounds. But it's next weekend January 18 &19. Always good prices there. Check out

    Computer Fair

Would love to join ya but I've got 40 days til go live on a $20,00000 computer system conversion.at my job... I'm living there for the time being!! :bounce:

Have a safe and extreamly fun trip!!!!
