    we all realize this is gonna KILL the *ENTIRE* shuttle program, and probably the entire space program for many many many years now, right?

    there's NO WAY they're gona let another one go up without fully dissasembling it and inspecting every damn part on every shuttle, as well as procedures used in the missions and, and, and, etc - you get the idea
    not to mention all the nut-jobs out there who are gonna put pressure on halting the programs and have been saying all along how it's a waste of money, etc -
    plus with the war coming up, well there's $$ that can be used for that instead of using it for the space programs, they'll say.....

    i was watching the last one, live on tv when it happend, and i remember it was a very long time before they allowed another one to launch

    ****, what a waste....

    The only bit of speculation that I havn't heard is of the posability of damage caused by space debris. At over 19000km/h it wouldn't take much to do an awful lot of damage though they're lookin' at the left wing as it may have been damaged during takeoff by some insulation breakin' away from either the fuel cell or a booster rocket at this time. :(

    No doubt that the possibility of the left wing sustaining damage will be looked at with great detail all over again.

    Certainly, this will set the space program onto an entirely new schedule than the one which esisted yesterday. Though with China's attention to thier own space pragram, I hardly think we will be abandoning ours anytime soon.

    I just listened to the lastest NASA press conference and it's lookin' more like a lowerside heat tile came away from the left wing introducin' high temps into the subsystems and structure of the space craft then while doin' one of it's "slow down" manuovers (which means voilently swingin' the craft from one side to the other to slow down against the air) the left wing tore away followed quickly by the desintergration of the rest of the craft. :(

    After checkin' a few things out I've come to a conclussion about things that NASA should not do in future and they are;

    1/ Never send a shuttle up that has the letter C as the first letter of it's name with a crew of 7 which has 2 women in it (but then it maybe just 2 women and the rest is a coincidence).

    2/ Never plan anything for the 2nd of February (or any date closely after).

    Why ya ask?

    Well on the 27th January 30 odd years ago 3 crew were incinerated on the launch pad before liftoff and on the 28th January 1986 was Challenger's time and it's crew of 7 (2 women). And now today's event on the 1st February. I'm sorry if anyone is offended by this now but it was just an observation that came to me and I thought that I'd share it. : peace2:

    Well the dates are closely runnin' for a start and the same numbers of team and sex were used in the last two (probably would've had 2 women in the first but that wasn't on in those days like) if ya get my meanin'. ;)
