I know this is off the topic, but really quick...Immortal, I see you got a Msi K7T266 Pro2A there--they're selling at fry's for $60 and was wondering if it was worth it.

    Opinions?

Yep , i think it was worth it , everything works fine , nice overclock options ( i was confused when i saw Ami bios ... but i can run my Athlon Xp 1700+ at 150 fsb :D with standard air cooling) , so you dont get any better motherboard for 60$ (i paid 64$).

Anyway i upgrade my Catalyst to version 2.5 , but still i get only 4700 in 3D mark 2001se defaults , and yes i have vsync off and no unnecessary procces running. I really dont know what to do :(.

what kind of Radeon9000 do you have?
there seems to be a lot of variation from mfg to mfg and model to model....some are real POS's

The HIS 64MB R9000 non-Pro uses 64bit DDR memory....if that's the card you have, it explains why your scores are so low

Hmm does every Radeon 9000 non-pro uses 64bit DDR memory ? or its only my HIS ? Becuse i saw scores about 6500 marks for Radeons 9000 non-pro.

Ya must of seen my score when I first stuck mine in as just a little bit of tweakin' took me over 7K and the last was 7387pts but there's still more in it yet (maybe not much but 7500 will do me for a server). :devil win

From the HIS website - the non-pro 64MB uses 64bit DDR memory, the non-pro 128MB uses 128bit DDR memory, both of the Pro's 64 & 128MB use 128bit DDR memory....so from what I can see it's only the bottom-of-the-line model that uses the crappy RAM

...you've got to be real careful & do your home work before you but a Radeon9000 - like I said before some are real POS's
HIS isn't the only co. to pair the R9000 chip with low perf. memory either...i'm pretty sure Powercolor has done the same thing.
I'm sure there's a market for cards like that - but it makes for some disappointed consumers, especially since there isn't anything in the card name to warn you.

Well I'm glad that I got a cheap ass Gigabyte Maya R9000 then as it does have "High performance dual-channel 128-bit DDR memory interface supports 64MB configurations". Same price here for one as a quality GF2 MX440 or "Yum-cha" GF4 MX420 but the performance of a GF3 Ti200 plus DX8.1 support. :thumb:

Why would anyone consider a GF MX card now?
