If it'll help divert the eye from their screw-up, i've got some old school doomed glass & antique metal screw-in light covers(Circa 1950's) in clear, red, green & amber; which just might add to your millitary motife and happen to be the perfect size for LED's.

    *EDIT*
Just checked inventory and no amber, but have 1 opaque white,
and the green & reds are totally light intensity adjustable: omg:

Hey Dryad, those sound cool! Do you have a pic of them? I already have a solution for the discrepancy that should be nigh invisible, but those sound interesting and I may be able to incorporate something like that elsewhere on the case.
It's been tough to come up with 3D solutions to some of the placement of equipment. You really have to think in 3D, draw in 2D, and construct in 3D again. Making mockups and doing dry fits and taking pics sure helps with visualizing where things will go spatially. The 3D objects are more of a cartoonish 2D representation, as I only needed a little more room than the case could give me. I also had to choose objects that could be cut out of sheet stock easily and didn't require casting molds, or anything else too demanding on my acrylic skills which were nonexistent before this project started. If my CAD skills existed at all, I could've probably saved myself a lot of greif by rendering this all on the computer. Guess I'm old school. : peace2:

Well, good luck on some fronts, bad luck on others...
I received my watercooling fittings today...only to discover that they're the wrong size. The site I ordered from was very unclear with the sizes of the John Guest super-speedfit fittings, listing them as a 3/8" fitting, no other specs. Well, when I ordered my Tygon tubing from the same site, it referred to the 3/8" Inside Diameter tubing as 3/8" tubing, same with all the barbed fittings. How was I to know that the speedfit fittings are measured by the OUTside diameter? Worse than that, I checked the John Guest official site, and the fitting I need (1/2" OD tubing elbow to 1/2" Male Pipe Thread) isn't even made. Anyway, I was headed by Home Depot anyway, and looked through what they had. Found something called a Toro "Funny Pipe" fitting that's for a trickle watering system. Looks cool in black plastic with a turn really close to the threads for good clearance....they only come in 1/2" ID tubing barb. :( Went back to the original site and looked around some more, and found the fitting that will work. It's barbed instead of the cool push-in fittings, but I'm willing to live with that if the threads are correct...and it doesn't leak. They're ordered, but it looks like another week of waiting for the poor ol' Wordbiker...*sigh*
Oh! The good part is...I got my yellow plastic in and I should make some progress on the powerbulges this weekend, if not finish them. I also got in the knob for the binoculars and it looks like it'll work great with some dremel work. I did do something that I'm hoping I won't regret though. I bought another barebones case! The CF-S868A I bought is an older model, so it was cheap, but after doing some more research, I've found out that it is the EXACT same case used for the Falcon Northwest Fragbox that has had so much press coverage and awards. Same 533 FSB P4B 2.66MHz I'm running. I got to thinking about it, and Figured that if I got the newer version of this very same case, I could get a better 220W PSU that I have not been able to find anywhere separately, and a mobo with an Intel 82865G + ICH5 chipset, that'll allow me an 800MHz FSB. I will swap out my components with the new case, and resell it built up, hopefully making enough to reclaim the money out! The newer case is pretty cool of it's own right, with pre-cut windows and a clear blue HS/F, along with some new styling of the handle. I will also be able to sell an actually improved version of the Fragbox, with all brand-new parts, but at about $2-300 less than the $1100 they get for theirs! Well, I think it's a sweet deal anyway....hopefully someone else will too.
    : peace2:

Here ya go Wordbiker, these were taken at 1600X1200 & cropped
so, if ya blow 'em up in your Photo App you can get some fine detail.

    Man, those look awesome! :thumb:
I do already have plans for this case, but do you think they'd work as buttons? That might be pretty cool if they could be modded to illuminated switches. Hmmmm...backed up with some acrylic rod, they just might work  Anything else you can tell me, like size, depth, etc would sure be helpful. Also, I have a ton of spare parts, plastic, sheathing and things. Perhaps I could trade you for something you need? Need some odd-sized watercooling fittings?

Looking at this picture, lean your head to the right to bring the
unit into a proper vertical standing perspective. Got it? Okay,
now that we got your head right
From this view you should note the largest center cross as being overall maximum hieght & width of this unit; with line 3 being full height of the bezel head; leaving the southern cross self explanatory as the H & W of the thread shaft. Hence the measurements are as follows:

    Uber-Cross = Line 1 @ 12/16-25/32
    Line 2 @ 9/16

    Vertical Line 3 @ 5/16

    Southern
    Cross = Line 1 @ 4/16
    Line 2 @ 5/16

    Leaving thread width @ 4/26-9/32

Keep in mind the inferior tools i had to work with can only allow me to state my accuaracy within 1/64 or so. And the smaller units in the original pic are basically 1/16 less in overall size.

Boy Howdy, am i ever glad for this 21' Dual monitor for pic referance:D

Well, those look awesome Dryad, and if you'd be willing to part with one, I'd be proud to include it in this project.
I was hoping to have some pics of some plastic to show you, but some dreaded real work got in the way. I did make progress, but nothing is pretty enough to peel the protective paper off yet. I was also distracted a bit by finding the fittings I needed to put together this:

And I just got this done. It's rough and it may not look like much, but I had to shave down that knurled knob for thickness. I also unsoldered that tiny momentary switch from an old CD drive, soldered new leads made from IDE cable, and hotglued it into position. I have a 1/2" plastic half-dome that will glue over it as a button for the DVD drive tray. Getting it all aligned and glued together was the tough part. Now for some sanding, gluing it between the "lenses" and more vinyl dye.

And after a little cleanup and a test coat of vinyl dye:

    Getting pretty close now :D
You can't see it from these pictures, but light bleeds from around the hinge. A little more glue seepage and another coat of vinyl dye oughta cover it. I'm just glad the fans still work!
