I am not proud to say it, but I own a HP Pavillion 6501.
But it was fully given to me brand new for free so i couldn't turn it down or I would still be stuck with my mum's P100.
But I partialy redemed it by new case, video card, hard drives, cd/rw, cd drive(ditched the rubish samsung one), and more RAM + got rid of the HP windows.

It dose the job but i'm saving to build my own.

I can't wait to get my new system together. I'm using a Soltek SL-75DRV2 MB using the Via KT266A chipset. AMD XP 1800 CPU (Probably gona OC it to at least 1800Mhz). Thermalright AX-7 HSF. Delta FFB0812EHE fan with a rheostat. 512MB of PC2400 Ram. GForce 2MX (For now). IBM 60G 7200rpm HD.

    Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet! :flames:

I'll let you know how it turns out.
Sigh, it's so lame now that my once Killer rig is just so outdated.

    AMD Lamer chip
    Asus Lamer board
    So so Lame memory
Very outdated and Lame video card
    I still like my case.
And I do have 370GB of storage.. which I guess isn't that lame.

I think it's time to upgrade.

Now all I need is to win the lottery

I think there is something to be said for being able to take the computer out of the box, plug it in and forget about it. That is all some people want. They don't care what's inside... Intel or otherwise. When something goes wrong, they don't have to worry about it, they just call in their warranty. I have a Compaq Presario, of course the only thing left pretty much is the motherboard and the processor. It was nice to learn on. Now it's overclocked and upgraded and still running. The one in my sig, I built myself. :geek:

Plug it in and forget about it?
Yeah, that would be sweet. Just not the nature of computing this day in age though.
Every time you turn around, ya' gotta' DL the patch, update the software, fix the security issue.

In actuality I think Mr. Ford's Model A's were a less maintenace intensive bit of technology:laugh:

Thank goodness that I am inclined to tweaking by nature

Guess I'll be the odd man out.

My old PC was a HP Pavilion 8570c. It became the early foundation for my next system, my old 1.2 ghz T-bird. I used the HD, Vid card, and sound card from that junker.

But then again that HP was hardly stock barely a month after I got it... all but the mb/cpu, case, nic, and HD had been replaced by less crappy parts.

It took my a long time to shake that haunting feeling of having had a store-bought sys. I ran the HP mobo over with my LTD last year, just to make sure it was dead.
