Hey guys, I just upgraded to an Athlon 2500+ Barton Core, and i want to know what the average temps are for this proc. I have an all copper cooler with a 70 MM 40 CFM fan on it, w/ AS3 that has alread set for 2 days, but im still getting tempreture readings from the BIOS of 45 C. Is that standard for Bartons? Also, I bought the retail version of the chip, with the new, better AMD Heatsink in the package. Do u think i would get better results if i put that one in instead of the copper one i have right now??? Also, does Asus have a program i can use to check my temps from in Windows???

    Thanks in Advance

    Thanks.
I Downloaded the monitor, although i didnt really believe what it was saying.
The BIOS was saying that my comp was running at 52C Tempretures (at 2150MHz), but HMonitor said 43C. So which one should i believe???
    Thanks

i'd believe bios before anything else.

oh yea, my 2800+ Barton (OC to 2278 from 2080) is said to run full load at about 44/45 C at 21C room temp. bios quotes the temps a few degrees higher.

that is with a Volcano 11+ at about 2800 rpms and Arctic Silver Ceramique

Yeah, i think the BIOS is gining the temps a bit higher then they actaully are, becuase when HMonitor says 40C and BIOS says 50C. i touched the HSF and it did not feel all that hot.

as long as it's stable you don't really need to worry, barring anything 60C or above, because then you're just decreasing life span.
Prime95 and sisoft Sandra are good programs to check stability if you're unsure.

'Normally" copper core heatsinks will conduct better heat, therefore dissapatting it faster.
In your case, why not try then both out and seee what one is the best for your setup.

at load or idle? load is the only temp that really matters
