Hey, I know theres alot of simple temp questions posted, but I couldn't really find anything to suit my prob.

I've got an antec 1080+ with 5 fans in it (2 antec intake @ front - 2 LED exhaust @ back - 1 clear fan intake @ side) finished with a Volcano 11+ on the CPU.

My specs are below, and nothings there that would cause a real temp hike, yet I'm idl'in around 40 and loading about 48-50.

I've changed fans, and even when I had 3 fans, the temp was still around this (which is strange it wasn't higher).

The whole thing was built by me from the ground up - and I've been careful to get a good air flow and whatnot goin. I've also taken the thing totally apart and put it back together like 3 times, each time getin the same temps. I'm thinkin I mighta missed something. (Probably the thermal + Heatsink application)

Anyway to definitely work out the prob?

Was just the stuff that came with the AMP CPU.

And yeah, I tried reapply'in it, but that was a while ago.

I just switched my Volcano 11 to the AMD Default fan, and it seems to be doing a better job cooling :(

That mighta been what was wrong, but I think there'd have to be something else as well....

That isn't very good, you should buy some nice Artic Silver3 or Artic Silver5 thermal compound.

Yeah - I getin some off a friend, will see how that goes.

Still, my case temp is around 30 when my CPU is around 40.

Is that poor case ventelation or poor Heat sink application?

OK, I got some Artic Silver 5 and put (What looks like) a perfect amount on. Covered the plate perfectly.

Temps are still the same though. With all my fans running full, I'm getin around 38 in a 25 room (This is with window open for air movement)

As for start up temps, I think they are around 28, but within 2 mins, atleast 38.

Case side off. After 10 mins temp was 37 (it was 40 b4). Strange though, the case temp only went down by 1 Degree....

IT also takes Arctic Silver time to "burn in" or set completly. It has to go threw like a period of several cycles, so don't get bummed out yet that it didn't do nothing for you, Once you break it in, It will probaly do a better job of conducting.

Yeah, I think you were right sepherum2ya.

After a few days of running my box, the temps have dropped a bit.

Can get 37 Idle now, and bring it down to 32-31 with fans cranked up to full.

Will see if it gets any better.

But thanks for input from everyone, cheers.
