    Hi

Just a quick question. Am I in danger of damaging my processor. It is an Athlon 1700XP. The running temps are 55c @ idle and under full load it gets to MAX 63c

Gimme a run down of what mobo and cooler you use.

Different motherboards have different sensors, ASUS have the worst as they are always inacurate

Another thing, did you install the hsf? If so what kind of thermal compond did you use. Artic silver can make a world of difference.
    Check em out http://articsilver.com/
    Look at the instructions closely

Edit. at those temps you are not in danger of hurting your chip but your preformance will suffer and the life span of the chip is reduced
    IMO
