Question Antec 80mm 3 pin Connector Probs

Ok so I have two antec 3 blue led fans. I connected them to 2 spare molex connectors and they work fine. (the 2 wires going to the molex connector are black and red) The fans also came with a separate blue wire with a 3 pin connector at the end to attach it directly to the mobo. When I tried to attach one of them to the mobo it didn't work. I noticed that my vga fan that connects to the mobo 3 pin connector has three wires that are blue, red, and black. Do I need to detach the two molex wires and somehow attach them to the 3 pin connector to get the fan to work?? HELP!!

The 3pin connectors may just be for RPM and\or speed control...LED fans in particular cant always run off a 3pin wire.

On my Antec fans the wire is white but it is(as sr4470 said) only for RPM monitoring/control, if you want to run them off the mobo then take off the extra conector and conect the 3pin wire to the mobo fan headers.
