    Default Pentium operating temps?

I have a Pentium 1.6 and I am starting to experience some "Program not responding" situations, as well as an occasion system shutdown. Motherboard monitor is showing my CPU temp at 145 degrees F. I have cleaned the fan of dust, and have removed the cover on the case. What I would like to know is if this temp is normal or high for this processor. Thanks.

Is that under full load or idle? 62C is a bit high for a northwood, even under load. What cooler do you have?
What temp does the BIOS start to throttle?

Its probably a Willamette not northwood, would explain the higher temperatures.

Probably better for him to remove the cooler, clean off any thermal material on the cpu and heatsink, then apply some AS5 to the cpu and put the cooler back on. My AXP 2400 used to reach shutdown temps, when i got rid of the rubbish gunk on it and used AS5, there was a marked improvement (temps were 51C maximum).

I always get really high temps with my Pentium 4 3.2 CPU (not overclocked). i have a Gigabyte Rocket Pro and my idle temps are around 50C with fan speeds of 4020 ish. (Fastest it will go)

When i play games its around 60C (Suspected reason of getting BSOD's)

When i shrink DVD's it goes to 70C!!!

i have reapplied the thermal paste 3 times but it never goes down!

    Sys - 37 C
    PWM - 37 C

Are there any other ways of cooling my sys down?

Change that for a zalman 7000 (the pure copper version is better but costs more).
