I started looking into water cooling my machine, but I had a crazy thought. Why stop there. I have a empty micro fridge in my garage.
Has anyone heard of a cooling system utilizing refrigerants? I found a web page with pictures of a cooling coils for a water cooler inside the fridge.
Would it be bad to place the expansion valve of a fridge directly over the processor, cooling it to about -5C? I imagine that a micro fridge cooling system could keep the processor around 0 most of the time. Would this temperature be harmful to the processor? I know I would have to come up with a way to prevent condensation, but what other threats can you think of?
    Thanks,
    Michael

How much would something like this cost? I wouldn't exactly place it over any component I would just put it near intake fans and have this nice cold frosty air blowing all over my components.

I'm not sure to the exact cost atm in US$'s but it's listed at
Price Beige model: 475,00 excl. VAT
Price Black model: 545,00 excl. VAT
in Europe but is much cheaper, colder and not top heavy like the Vapochill case (which has the cooling system in the top of the case). ;)

To just keep the case temp cool I could just place the components inside the fridge freezer, and use it as a box. That would be one heavy machine, guess no Lan party transporting.

:rolleyes2 oh well, either have extreme cooling w/ no LANs or lesser cooling w/LANs

Or have a supercooled monster with about everything as a home rig plus a handy LAN job. ;)
