I am working on keeping my Crossfired MSI R9 290 Gaming cards cool. The top card is the issue. I would like the vga fans not to spin above 80%, since thats when they get louder. I have 5 NZXT 200mm fans and 1 140mm NZXT fan to work with. My liquid cooler is an Corsair H100i and my case is an NZXT H630 with a NZXT Phantom side panel (side 200mm vent). Also I am using a BixFenix Recon fan controller.
On this photo there is a NZXT 200mm fan on the side panel not shown.
My 2nd attempt is to move the Liquid cooler to the red area and put 2 200mm on the top of the case. I have had better luck with this setup ,but not as cool as I want. I moved the fan controller sensor so that when the gpu's heat up then it will kick the fans up. The 200mm fans are pretty quiet even at full speed.

Re: VGA\Case Cooling help
In 2011 I did some tests to improve my video card temperatures. The first test involved installing an 87 cfm on the case's side panel blowing directly onto my video card. The high cfm fan test was a major failure as the video card's temperatures were much higher, probably caused by too much turbulence.
Using a 92mm cooling fan, the video card's PCB temperatures were significantly lower.
Using a different system and computer case for my SLI setup, the rude and crude cardboard air duct helped to lower the video cards' temperatures. The fan shroud's air intake came from the 64 cfm, 120mm front case fan.
#1 - Please, when seeking help, enter the make and model of ALL parts that your system is comprised of in your Signature, or at least the model #'s in your System Specs, then "Save' it.
____If you are overclocking, underclocking, or undervolting any parts, informing us of this and their values would prove beneficial in helping you.
#2 - Consider your PSU to be the foundation from which all else is built upon. Anything built upon a weak foundation is poorly built.
It'll maybe spoil the clean looks as it's deemed ungainly by some.
Back in the day I had this prob and chose the Spot Cool's over those real ugly slot coolers.
