    ok so i have a p4 2.4ghz running @ 55 degrees on average, now im going to buy either another case fan (i already have 2) or a volcano 7+ for the cpu. On load the average is about 60.
    My new comp:
    P4 2.4ghz
    Asus P4PE mobo
    512mb DDR2700 RAM
    asus gf4 ti4400
    sb live se 5.1
    Hercules 5.1 speakers
    80 gig hdd
    LiteOn 48x12x48 CDRW
    Sony 16x DVD-ROM
    Sony 19" Flat Screen
    oh yeh and a floppy drive :D:D

    im not the kinda person who cracks open my case, but id suppose itmight make a little diference

    Wiggo asks this because it is a simple test to see if the case airflow is the problem. And besides, you'll have to crack the case to replace the heatsink anyway.

    FYI; if your system runs cooler when you remove the case side-panel, then you have a problem with case airflow. If this is the situation you're facing, then it won't do you any good to buy another heatsink. No matter how good the cooler, it won't help your cause at all if there is only hot air to work with in the first place.

    55 on aveage? i'd say its a bit high. guess my question what do you consider average. after playing a video game converting data? mine runs usually at 43-46 according to the intel active monitor i have using a 2.53gig hz cpu. usually thats only when web is running playing mp3's and then i have seti@home running also with a few other programs. i'd try taking the side of the case off. the temperatrure diff from inside case compared to processor is about anywhere from 5-8 difference using 6 fans though
