but that wouldn't work b/c if it "transfers" heat within it self cooling would become less effective at some times and super effective at one time....if your proc is hot the peltier at that side would turn cold but as it cools does and the water cools it the proc side would turn hot

I still think this is double cooling.
If you use watercooling why put something that doesnt need to be there.
I mean c'mon if watercooling isnt enough, you might consider getting one of them liquid coolers.

Hell if WC is good enough to cool a nuclear reactor, I think it will do just fine in my PC!

    kane2g,
Keep in mind that water cooling is only designed to get your processor running at a constant temperature that is roughly the same as the ambient air around the system. This is the best water can do.

Peltiers can do better (the higher wattage ones at least) and the phase change coolers can keep the processor at operating temperatures well under zero degrees Celsius. This is generally the preferred method of cooling for the extreme enthusiast, but the costs are generally prohibitive.

i see. thats kind of nice to have supercooled CPU, but getting my temps into 20s-30s would be good enough for me.

Well then, the larger the radiator and the more liquid the system holds the better. :devil win

I run a dual fan setup (air cooled) and the way I do it I've hit 18 degrees C with my air cooled setup. I use a fan above the HS/FAN attached to the side of the case and then direct the air down to the HS Fan with an old McDonalds cup I cut and trimmed a bit. It's duct taped to the side of the case. Air from the outside of the case would then be directed directly to the CPU fan/HS. Then I went a step further....

I bought some 3 in. ducting at the auto parts store and bring in outside cold air directly into my case with that fan set up. I've seen the temp of the CPU down to 18 degrees C when it was pretty cold outside. Most of the time it idles at 30 and below. :D
