Thread: Browser Plug-ins Crashing my Computer

Whenever I try to open a webpage with a Java, quicktime or mediaplayer plug-in my screen refreshes it self (goes off then on and comes back with parts of the taskbar missing). With the Quicktime and Mediaplayer I can keep browsing and watch movies but if it's a Java plug-in then nothing shows up in the plug-in and eventually my computer will BSOD saying that ATIDUAG.DLL is the problem. I'm assuming this is a Display Driver issue but I've tried changing drivers etc. but nothing works.

I've got an Asus 9800XT with the latest Catalyst drivers. It doesn't matter if I use IE, Opera or Netscape. The plug-in settings in control panel won't show anything in the window. I'm losing my mind and I fear my computer will soon pay the consequences.

    Please help guys,
    Love,

    Zim

Don't have a 9800, am running Catalyst 4.2, Winxp, and don't have that file on my machine. Do you have the latest version of JRE from Sun (free download)? I am using it in Opera and Mozilla and it works. I don't know if Real could have screwed up Java (I won't use any of Real's stuff), but it seems to want to take over everything and I don't doubt it may have.

Hey man thanks for the quick reply,

I do have the latest JRE and I don't even have RealPlayer installed as like you I don't like it. I think I may have found the solution though. I didn't uninstall my old Catalyst's last time I upgraded so I went to uninstall them and start over and the drivers told me I had two 9800XT's on my machine. I reinstalled and viola it seems to be working, so in future always uninstall your display drivers. That's a lesson all you kids out there should learn.
