The__tweaker: Max works best on Direct X9 graphics cards.

The_tweaker: That was the question I put to the games developer.

Q: Is Max Payne 2 a true DirectX 9 title?
A: Thanks for your interest. Max works best on Direct X9 graphics cards. "A true ..." is subjective - so I can't answer a "yes" or "no" to that.
You will see soon enough and can judge for yourself:-)

Yes I think it's pretty fair to say that the game includes DirectX 9 optimised scenes. Max 2 also uses the superb Havoc 2 physics engine, also used by Valve Software in their forthcoming title Half-Life 2. There you have it, Max Payne and Gordon Freeman now have three things in common, DirectX 9, Havoc 2 and a gorgeous sidekick each.

Last but not least, GH are hosting 38 exclusive gameplay movies for Max Payne 2, you can grab them here if you're interested.

    Mod Tool Release info

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the mod tools will not be on the Max Payne 2 CD-ROMs, but will be released separately on-line.

Release date is not set, we're working on the installer etc. and it should not take too long. We're talking about sometime next week, most likely. Just enough time to play the game through a few times and get some ideas for your own mods

We're also working on tutorials etc. to get you all started full speed, and these will be released

Took a look at the game last night. The physics engine is very nice... :) And the story line is very Max Payne-ish again. If you were a fan of the first, you'll love it. If not, then you might not as it's just more of the same.

I lost interest in the first one, so I'll have to wait and see what happens in this one.

I'm a huge fan of the first game!! In fact it's one of the best shooters I've ever played on a pc.. :)

But damn I can't decide if I should get the game right away or if I should wait til I have a DX9 supporting 3D card..

Wish I knew for certain if the game has real DX9 effects or not.. The speed of my oc Ti4200 *should* handle it but it's no fun if I can't see all the candy.. :2cents:
