While playing Combat Flight Simulator 3, I will occassionally get a huge stutter and/or frame drop. I've observed that this ONLY happens when the hard drive LED lights up. Any suggestions for a solution.

    Some additional info:

It slows down when the HD LED lights up because your computer is thinking and accessing the HD, it would either be from loading/running background services/programs and/or loading parts of the game

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't have this problem when running Battlefield 1942, a notorious resource hog. So anyone know why I'm seeing it in CFS3?

It's probably pre-loading/caching things like terain, it happens in a quite a few games, mainly where the map is tolarge to load all at once.
