Thank you for the voltage details and post Lsdmeasap. I am leaning towards the GA-MA790X-UD4P. I will be able to go to 2.2 or 2.3 volts on that memory and get a nice stable system, and the board should hold up fine if it goes up to 2.7

Ya I do think that is the better of the boards you listed.

It does however only go to 2.5V (1.8V + .7 = 2.5), but hey who needs 2.5 or 2.7 anyway

Sorry but I won't be able to offer much more help with this, I only know Intel so I cannot offer much info on AMD Systems

    Good luck deciding

Well in a way no, not as good as the other 790 due to it having finer adjustments, but yes it is the better board for several reasons. Dealing with voltages it does go the highest to 2.5.

They all start at 1.8V, so with it having +0.7 it will have the highest voltage allotment as the other two are only +0.3 or +0.55

No i doesn't work well, i tried switching to side speakers and it's not ok, there are no rears when playing 5.1 content and i mean it's not the sound which should be on the rear, the sound on the sides it's almost as the one on the front but with less volume.
i've tested it with same blueray movie with realtek installed and without it, using only windows drivers and i am 100% the sound it's different. I don't understand why on my brothers ep35-ds3r it's configured as it should be (rears active on 5.1 config) the ALC 889A and on mine stupid ep45 ud3p it's not. So i have a message for realtek/gigabyte guys and this super mega stupid feature There is no proper support for 7.1 speakers so that i could use the rears, and on 5.1 config the rears don't work so i just have to get a creative on monday cause i don't have the money to buy a z5500 to connect it with the digital output. It's the same stupid thing on Windows XP SP3 x32 and on vista ultimate x64 sp1
@least the windows drivers work well on vista x64 sp1 and again ************* realtek for its stupid feature.

Did you change the setting to 7.1 as the link I posted describes? Sorry I do not use these types of speakers but I have seen this issue come up and be worked around just fine many times.

It is a driver issue, not a Gigabyte issue I believe so you may want to shoot them off a email and see what they have to say. You do have Azalia enabled in the BIOS Correct?

Tried the latest Driver direct from RealTek?

yes i've used the 7.1 config but the codec (Ac3 filter 1.51) doesn't seem to like this settings and there is no 5.1 audio cause on the rears i only get some distorted audio as if it trys to emulate 5.1 .
yes i've tried the latest 2.22 release drivers still the same. Yes i figured it's realtek stupid ideea but i can not understand why on my brothers ep35-ds3r which has the same audio chip there is no problem. And it's for sure a driver thing cause the windows ones configure 5.1 as it should and they are properly detected by the software. The guy from the last post on that thread has z5500 which can be connected via digital spdif (it also has a built in dolby decoder) so there is no problem but i have logitech g51 sound sistem which doesn't have any digital imput .Anyway i just can't understand why trying to fix something that just works well (5.1 with active rears not sides), and i mean here the realtek driver configuration, when u know most of the software don't like that(really stupid)

    I just installed a GA-EP45-UD3P Rev. 1.1 mobo and Intel E8400 CPU.

The BIOS (I don't know the version and not able to check it right now) reports the CPU running at 2.83 GHz (8.5x), when it should be 3.00 GHz. Some of the benchmark progs correctly report it as 3.00 GHz, but not sure if that's what it's actually running or what it's rated. One prog showed the CPU running at 5% underclock.

I wonder why the BIOS would show the CPU incorrectly. It recognized the 4 GB RAM ok.

I've never flashed a BIOS and not sure if it's necessary. I also haven't touched any of the clock settings.

Should I be concerned? Do I need to flash the BIOS? Or just set the clock to 9.0x? And which setting would that be, exactly?

    Thanks.

    Hi Ms. Yeh,
I just purchased a GA-MA770-UD3. Even though I enabled the S.M.A.R.T. option in the bios, I still got no S.M.A.R.T. info shown in any of the monitoring software like Everst, Hdtune, Speedfan (all in latest version).

The Bios is the latest F5. Even worst is, for a SATA hd, it should be shown as a removable hd in XP (XP Pro SP3) and now it is not.

The hd is Seagate 7200.7 120GB. It shows all the above info in my last MSI mb. It is set in AHCI mode. Other than the problems above, everything works fine; please help!

    Thx in advance!

Can you please upload the error beep for me you are hearing on bootup?

Attached the sound in OGG format. Thanks for following up! Hopefully I won't need to buy a new board.
