    supremealpha1 Which Windows is it.
Is it possible when you setup and installed Windows you performed it for AHCI mode? I am assuming you connected the hard drive to the onchip SATA controller. This is SATA2_0
I am unsure as to where you have it connected.
You may want to try changing these settings to see for sure.

Oh I'm sorry I overlooked that when checking your hardware configuration. Please forget all my previous settings.
You may want to go into bios and load optimized defaults again save and exit.
If you wish to connect two IDE devices, remember to set the jumpers and the cabling according to the role of the IDE devices (for example, master or slave). (For information about configuring master/slave settings for the IDE devices, read the instructions from the device manufacturers.)
One end of the ide ribbon is to be plugged into the motherboaerd. The other end is for the slave device. The connection in the middle is for the master device. Be sure to set both drives jumpers either one master and the other slave with the coresponding ribbon connection as above, or both to CS for cable select.

Unhappy Re: Welcome to GIGABYTE Technical Support!

Great forums. I have learned a lot here and thanks to all. I upgraded to a Q9550 and having issues. Here is my first setup that is working perfectly before the Q9550 upgrade.

    GA-EP45-UD3P 1.1 (F8) Purchased 5/2009.
    Intel E8500 overclocked 422x9.5=4001
EVGA GTX260 (197.13 drivers) not overclocked
    Raid 0
    Xigmatek 650PSU
    Corsair Dominator PC8500 DDR2 Ram (2x2G) (5-5-5-15) 1013mhz.
True 120 Heat Sink with 120MM Fan
Antec Nine Hundred case 5 120mm and 1 140mm fans
    Win 7 Ult 64-bit
Latest chip, raid, audio, nic drivers from Gigabyte

Issue: I purchased a Q9550 EO step to replace the E8500 which my son will get.
My problem is it is I am randomly getting a "nvlddmkm.sys" blue screen or a frozen desktop any time I run 3d apps/games (3dmark2006, Batman Asylum,etc.). This does not happen when I have the E8500 chip. Chip is not being overclocked. It passes Memtest (6 hours), Prime95 (10 hours) and Intel Burn Test 30 passes (no core going over 62c). All other apps (Office, Photoshop, Coreldraw, etc.) have no issues. I have tried bios F8, F9, F10 with optimized defaults with same result. I even cleared the CMOS after each bios flash. I again set settings to optimized defaults (ram at 800mhz), I formatted and installed Win7 again with latest Gigabyte drivers and 3dMark stills freezes or BSOD. I have swapped out the ram, purchased a new Corsair 750PSU and tried different Nvidia drivers with still the same result. I then swapped out the Q9550 with the E8500 on the fresh Win7 install and the problem stops. Installed the Q9550 on my sons Dell (Win7 x86) and he has no issues with 3dMark or his games. I have googled this error and there is no definite fix but I have tried everything they have suggested. For once I am at a lost and I can only think it is the motherboard having some issue with the Q9550. I do not want to throw more money at this without at least getting some advice from Gigabyte. Right now I am back to the E8500.
    Thanks.

You may just need to add a little bit of SB Voltages, since you have a large card and added a quad now instead of a dual. This may be straining the SB, or even the NB a little bit more than the dual would.

    Try the following changes:
    ICH I/O……………….....1.500V............: <<< set 1.54-1.58
    ICH Core…………...……1.100V............: <<< Set 1.14-1.22

Are you already adding/setting your own MCH Voltage? If not you should be anyway for 2x2GB, if you are not try 1.2-1.26 MCH Core and see if that helps.

This is a Nvidia driver issue of course, but since it only affects you when you use the quad it sounds like it just may be settings off is all.

If none of that helps please make a new thread and post the link into your above thread for refernce, then I will help you in the new thread. Also in the new thread, if you need more help, please fill out a template from my signature with your full current BIOS settings.

    Lsdmeasap,

I will try that. Since my post I have been able to get the system running 3d apps (3dmark2006) at the default speed 2.83 all the way to 3.01 (355x8.5); it will not go further than that without freezing. I really wanted to get to at least 3.4mhz.

I will start a new thread as requested. Don't really want to spend more money on a ATI video card.

Hello. I have one question: I own two Gigabyte motherboards (GA-MA790FX-DQ6 and GA-MA790X-DS4). Is there any small chance for BIOS update for them (or at least one of them), supporting the new X6, 1055 or/and 1090? I know those CPU models are currently listed as N/A for both mb, but I want to know for sure if Gigabyte has renounced updating BIOS for those motherboards and I should head to something else. Thanks.

Per your advice, I was able to get the system stable at 3.2mhz with 3d apps by increasing the settings you advised. 3d mark06 completed without issues. Prime95 4 hours was good. Will play again with it tonight. Thanks.

    MCH 1.26
    ICH I/O 1.57
    ICH Core 1.26
Vcore is at 1.31 - Will play with this latter
